Tampere University

The University of Tampereis a culturally-committed higher education institution with the social mission of educating visionaries who understand the world and change it. 

In its research, the University addresses the central issues in contemporary society. By providing critical knowledge and education, the university helps people and societies to improve their health and their cultural, social and economic well-being.
 
The basic values of the University are academic freedom, creativity and social responsibility. This means that everyone has an equal right to learn, to acquire knowledge, to participate and to make an impact on society.
 
"Tampere University" is created in January 2019 by the merger of the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology, which are joining forces to create a new foundation-based university. The new Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences constitute the Tampere university community.

Masaryk University

Masaryk University (Czech: Masarykova univerzita; Latin: Universitas Masarykiana Brunensis) is the second largest university in the Czech Republic, a member of the Compostela Group and the Utrecht Network.Founded in 1919 in Brno as the third Czech university (after Charles University 1348, Palacký University 1573), it now consists of nine faculties and 35,115 students.

It is named after Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first president of an independent Czechoslovakia as well as the leader of the movement for a third Czech university.

In 1960 the university was renamed Jan Evangelista Purkyně University after Jan Evangelista Purkyně, a Czech biologist. In 1990, following the Velvet Revolution it regained its original name. Since 1922, over 171,000 students graduated form the university.
