Osaka Metropolitan University Visits NTNU

On December 5, 2024 (Thursday), Osaka Metropolitan University President Masahiro Tatsumisago, Executive Vice President Professor Toshiyuki Matsui, and International Office Staff Ms. Wakana Yasuoka, accompanied by Ministry of Education Second Education Secretary, Mr. I-Ta Chen, came to NTNU for a return visit. This marked OMU President Tatsumisago’s first visit to NTNU. NTNU delegates had visited the OMU campus on October 29, 2024, and hosting the OMU delegation at NTNU just a few months later felt like a full-circle moment, perfectly timed before the end of 2024.

The OMU delegation was warmly welcomed by NTNU President Cheng-Chih Wu and Vice President for International Affairs Professor Yi-De Liu. As expected, the meeting had the atmosphere of a reunion, with both parties eagerly catching up on developments since their last encounter.

After exchanging stories and souvenirs, President Wu took the initiative to personally guide the delegation around the NTNU campus. One of the key locations visited was the NTNU Research Center for Conservation of Cultural Relics (RCCCR). Recognized as an ethical, modern, and professional conservation facility in Taiwan, the RCCCR is dedicated to the preservation of invaluable relics and artworks using advanced conservation science and techniques. Through this visit, the OMU delegates gained insight into NTNU’s meticulous and steadfast commitment to safeguarding national heritage.

Osaka Metropolitan University has been a partner institution of NTNU since 2011, and the two universities signed a university-wide MOU and student exchange agreement in 2023. The mutual visits this year reflect a shared optimism for deepening academic collaboration, enhancing cultural exchange, and fostering stronger ties between our faculty and students in the years ahead.
