University of North Texas Delegation Visits NTNU to Explore Artificial Intelligence and Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Dr. Michael McPherson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of North Texas (UNT), led a delegation to National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) on April 13, 2026. Accompanying him were Ms. Lauren Jacobsen-Bridges, Vice Provost for International Affairs; Dr. Paul Krueger, Dean of the College of Engineering and Professor of Mechanical Engineering; and Dr. Amanda White Bennett, Director of Global Partnerships and Engagement. The delegation was received by NTNU Executive Vice President Prof. Hsueh-Chih Chen, Associate Vice President for Research and Development Prof. Shih-Hau Fang, Associate Vice President for International Affairs Prof. Hsiu-Mei Hsieh, Dean of the College of Technology and Engineering Prof. Yi-Hsuan Hung, and Associate Dean Prof. Jeng-Han Tsai.
During the meeting, both universities shared developments in artificial intelligence and engineering and exchanged views on potential collaboration in AI, semiconductors, and electrical engineering. Opportunities for faculty collaboration, student exchanges, and interdisciplinary programs were also discussed.
UNT representatives expressed strong interest in strengthening cooperation with NTNU. The discussion also highlighted the existing collaboration between UNT and NTNU through Prof. DC Chiachih Wang of UNT’s Department of Psychology and NTNU’s Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling, which has helped establish a solid foundation for future cooperation.
The visit enhanced mutual understanding between the two institutions and laid the groundwork for future collaboration. Following the visit, UNT sent a letter expressing appreciation for NTNU’s hospitality and productive discussions and invited NTNU representatives to visit the UNT campus in the future.
