Utrecht University Delegation Visits NTNU Office of International Affairs
On April 15, 2026, a delegation from the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning at Utrecht University (UU) in the Netherlands visited National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). The visit took place amid the delegation's busy schedule during the Dutch-Taiwanese IAMCER Joint Seminar week, in which the UU delegation members served as keynote speakers alongside NTNU's Professor Mucahid Mustafa Bayrak. The seminar examines how local communities cope with, adapt to, and mitigate the impacts of the global climate crisis, with a comparative focus on Taiwan and the Netherlands.
The delegation was welcomed at the Office of International Affairs (OIA) by Prof. Yi-De Liu, Vice President for International Affairs, and Ms. Kao-Ming Lin, Head of the OIA Global Academic Collaborations Division. In keeping with the seminar's themes, Prof. Liu introduced the Ministry of Education's Taiwan-Belgium-Netherlands Academic Exchange and Mobility Grant Program, an initiative designed to promote academic collaboration, support two-way mobility, and strengthen research partnerships between Taiwan, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Under this grant, students may apply to programs spanning a wide range of fields, including the fundamental sciences, social sciences and humanities, arts, architecture and design, and sustainability management, among others with clear research relevance. The grant also provides substantial financial support to successful applicants, making it a compelling opportunity for those looking to pursue advanced study or research abroad.
With shared research interests in climate resilience and sustainability, and institutional frameworks like the MOE grant now in place to support cross-border mobility, the outlook for deeper collaboration between NTNU and Utrecht University looks increasingly promising. There is much to look forward to as both institutions explore what future partnerships may bring.
