University of Portsmouth Visits NTNU

On March 16th 2020, University of Portsmouth Visits NTNU. The University of Portsmouth, often referred to as simply Portsmouth University, is a public university in the city of Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. It was previously known as Portsmouth Polytechnic from 1969 until 1992, when it was granted university status through the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. In 2017 University of Portsmouth has become partner school with NTNU.

This time, Mr. Kenny KOK, Recruitment and Marketing Manager of Southeast Asia Regional Office from the University of Portsmouth, visited NTNU. Our vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Hsiang-Lin LIU, gave him a warm welcome, followed by a discussion on potential exchange opportunities between the two schools and the current status of student exchange.

Mr. KOK was invited by IDP International Education Center to participate in the 2020 IDP International Education Fair in addition to visiting partner schools. University of Portsmouth usually sends a number of faculty members to Taiwan in March and October each year in response to invitations to international education fairs.

Mr. KOK also mentioned that the university has been actively expanding its recruitment activities in Asia in recent years. In addition to Chinese students, the number of Vietnamese students has been increasing year by year. Although the University of Portsmouth is not located in a major city such as London, the cost of living is relatively low and transportation is convenient, so Mr. Kok hopes these advantages can attract more foreign exchange students to the University of Portsmouth. Through this visit, we not only have enhanced cooperation and relationship between the University of Portsmouth and NTNU, but also hope the University of Portsmouth's students would like to study at NTNU in the near future.
