Chinese University of Hong Kong Visits NTNU
On June 25th, Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links, and Ms. Jennifer Chan, Programme Officer of Academic Links from Chinese University of Hong Kong visited NTNU. Prof. Kuang-Chao Yu, Vice President for International Affairs, Office of International Affairs; Ms. Jo Wang and Ms. Jia-Yu Liu, the Global Partnership Manager from the Office of International Affairs, welcomed the guests in person.
Chinese University of Hong Kong has become partner school with NTNU since 2012, and both sides have had serveral academic cooperation since then. During the courtesy call, both representatives focus on not only how to increase the percentage of student exchange in the future, but also discussed about the university rankings and administrative system during the meeting. According to Ms. Wing Wong, Chinese University of Hong Kong emphasizes on cultivating students' international horizon and independence. Therefore, their university provides a large amount of expenditure and numerous opportunities for students to study abroad. Each year, around 7,000 students study outside Hong Kong, including long-term and short-term. Among the 7,000 students, 3,500 choose to study in China, while 500 will come to Taiwan. Ms. Wing Wong states that since NTNU is one of the best universities in Taiwan, and both sides already have some exchanges, she hopes to create more chances between the two. For instance, they could organize some research-internship workshops during summer vacation, which participants could get paid; or scholar-visiting programs. Everyone had a wonderful conversation.
Before the courtesy call ended, Prof. Kuang-Chao Yu emphasized that he looks forward to have more academic exchange with Chinese University of Hong Kong in the future.
