Pusan National University Vice President for International Affairs Visits NTNU

Pusan National University (PNU) Vice President for International Affairs Dr. Min Jong Yang visited National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) on February 20, 2025. PNU Institute of Humanities Research signed an MOU with NTNU College of Liberal Arts on February 17, 2023, initiating a partnership between the two universities. This was followed by both universities signing a university-wide MOU and student-exchange agreement on August 7, 2024, further deepening the already existing partnership.

In his visit to NTNU on February 2025, PNU Vice President Yang expressed interest in learning about NTNU's strategies for attracting international students, as well as the operations and programs of the NTNU Mandarin Training Center (MTC). He was first received by NTNU Executive Vice President Kwun-Min Chen, Vice President for International Affairs Professor Yi-De Liu, and Office of International Affairs (OIA) Division Head Ms. Roxane Weng. PNU Vice President Yang welcomed NTNU EVP Chen during NTNU’s benchmark visit to PNU last December 2024, and the latter was very happy to return the favor this time around.

During the meeting at the OIA Reception Room, Ms. Weng gave a short presentation on the current strategies the OIA Global Student Recruitment team employs, including the several decisions the university has made to accommodate the new normal during the pandemic years, as well as a run-down on the different programs and support NTNU provides for international students.

In turn, PNU Vice President Yang introduced PNU's summer term language program and welcomed interested NTNU students to apply. He also personally brought an official invitation for NTNU President Wu to attend the APEC University Leaders' Forum (AULF), happening on May 12-13, 2025, in Jeju Island, Korea. Furthermore, Vice President Yang expressed interest in establishing cross-country and cross-university degree-program collaboration opportunities with NTNU.

After the meeting, PNU Vice President Yang was brought to visit the NTNU Mandarin Training Center, where he was received by MTC Associate Executive Director Professor Chao-Mei Tu. During this time, PNU Vice President Yang was toured around the Center, and was introduced to the different spaces students explore and make use of during their time there.

Overall, this much anticipated visit from PNU Vice President Min Jong Yang highlights both universities' enthusiasm to further strengthen cooperation. These conversations premise the start of future collaborative projects between Pusan National University and National Taiwan Normal University.
