A major comprehensive national teaching and research university in northeastern Japan, Yamagata University enrolls about 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students at its thirteen academic divisions on its four college campuses spread throughout the Yamagata region. YU offers programs in the fields of agriculture, arts and humanities, education, engineering, medicine, natural science, nursing, and social sciences.
Chukyo University will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2014, and the Umemura Group of Educational Institutions, the university’s parent organization, is marking its 90th anniversary this year in 2013. I was recently installed as the fourth chairman of the Umemura Group, and I keenly feel the weight of the responsibility of my new post. Constant innovation has fueled the advancement of Chukyo University in the past, and it will continue to drive us forward into the future. I am committed to doing everything in my power to implement “Next 10,” our new long-term plan drafted with an eye to pioneering a new era in education at the university.
We are located in the heart of Japan, in Osaka of the Kansai area, where our history has shown that the tradition of creative and innovative ideas has long existed. Our university has carried on this tradition - in 2005, three universities, Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka Women's University and Osaka Prefectural College of Nursing, have been merged as one great engine for Osaka and we have restarted our endeavors into newer and greater academic pursuits.
The International University of Kagoshima was founded in1932 by Teisuke Tsumagari(1879-1949) as the first institution of higher education for commerce and economics in Kagoshima.
