On November 28, 2024 (Thursday), Sogang University Vice President of International Affairs Fr. Seil Oh, S.J. came to visit NTNU. Sogang University is an esteemed private institution located in Seoul, South Korea. The university was established in 1960 by the Society of Jesus to provide education inspired by both Jesuit philosophy and Korean tradition of education. Since its establishment, Sogang University currently has 27 departments in eight schools for their undergraduate program, and one graduate school, six professional graduate schools, and five special graduate schools for their graduate program. The university is one of the top private universities in Seoul, ranked 576th by QS ranking 2025 and 13th by Unirank country ranking.

Fr. Seil Oh, S.J. was welcomed by NTNU Vice President for International Affairs Professor Yi-De Liu. Sogang University and NTNU signed a university-wide MOU and student exchange agreement, and have been partner universities since 2020. The topic of meeting discussion primarily focused on seeking opportunities for collaboration between faculty members and students from both universities. Fr. Seil Oh, S.J. emphasized that they welcome NTNU faculty members to visit and be matched with the most appropriate programs at Sogang University. He added that faculty members and students who decide to go to Sogang University will receive the best quality education and personal care experience. He also introduced their 2025 Sogang International Summer Program, which offers a diverse course list ranging from Korean language courses, K-pop and cultural studies, introduction to Korean Society, and psychology of the self courses, etc.

As this trip was Fr. Oh, S.J.’s second trip to Taiwan and was his first visit to NTNU campus, the visit included a tour around NTNU Main campus. The visit concluded with a tour around OIA office and exciting conversations about possible collaborative projects with Sogang University. This visit brought great optimistic spirit – just in time for the upcoming Christmas season!
